Weld Re-3J believes that staff, parents, students, and community members have a shared responsibility in keeping learning environments safe for all students. We strive to ensure each and every student, including those from traditionally underserved populations, has the opportunity to reach their full potential for academic achievement and success. Within our Strategic Plan: Vision Forwardthe District is committed to safe and secure schools and student well-being. All school personnel annually review safety and security protocols and maintain and update physical/technological systems and protocols. We use survey data collected from students in the fall and spring to improve student social emotional competencies and create action plans focused on positive school culture and climate.

We expect that each school:

  • Establish roles and responsibilities for crisis management and response
  • Promote positive school climate/culture
  • Promote empathy, respect, non-discrimination, and positive relationships
  • Create prevention-based systems and implement restorative practices
  • Discuss safety and security issues with staff and parents regularly
  • Ensure that each staff member has participated in crisis preparedness training
  • Conduct lockdown, evacuation, hold, secure, fire, and shelter drills in their safety drill procedures annually
