What preschool options are available in Re-3J? The Weld County School District Re-3J offers two program options. We have a program for four year old's whose birthday falls on or before September 15th of the coming school year. This program takes place at Hoff Elementary, Hudson Elementary, and Meadow Ridge PK-2, every Tuesday through Friday. Some children who are not yet four may qualify for free preschool through the Individuals with Disabilities Act,  and also attend this program based on their specific needs. Additionally, we offer a program designed for three year old’s at Meadow Ridge PK-2 and Hudson Elementary in the mornings two days a week.

When does school start? Preschool student’s typically start one day later than K-5 students. Depending on whether they are part of our four year old program which takes place Tuesday through Friday, or our 3 year old programs which run two days a week.

Are there full-day options for preschool? All of Re-3J preschool sessions are half-day.

Can preschoolers ride the bus? Transportation to and from preschool is the responsibility of parents and families. There are a few exceptions to this rule. If you believe your child should be eligible for transportation, please contact our Director of Support Programs, Jenny Wakeman at 303-536-2002.

When does preschool enrollment begin? Enrollment for preschool begins in January. At that time, preschool registration packets are available online and at each of our elementary locations.

How do I get started with preschool enrollment? You can obtain a preschool enrollment packet through our website or at any of our elementary preschool locations. Completed packets can be turned back into school secretaries at each of the elementary preschool locations, scanned and sent to our Director of Support Programs at or mailed directly to district office at 1101 4th Avenue, Hudson, 80642. Once we receive your registration packet, you should receive a phone call or letter within 10 days, notifying you of your enrollment status.

If I live within the Re-3J school boundaries am I guaranteed a preschool spot? No. Living within the district boundaries does not guarantee you a preschool opening. We have a limited number of available preschool spots and they are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Are there scholarships or other forms of financial assistance available for preschool? Currently, the school district receives limited funding through Colorado Preschool Program (CPP) in order to provide free preschool to up to 83 children. Children and families must qualify for CPP. There are several factors that determine a child’s qualification for CPP. More information regarding these factors is available within our enrollment packet.

How much does preschool cost? Our four day/week program is $190 per month and our two day/week program is $80. Tuition is due no later than the 3rd of each month (September through May) and can be paid by cash, check, or credit card.

Do I need to purchase supplies for my preschooler to start school? No. We do not require the purchase of any school supplies. We do request that you send a backpack and a clean change of clothes for all preschool students on a daily basis.

Does my child have to be potty-trained to attend preschool? We understand that for some children, there may be developmental or medical reasons for a delay with potty training. We also understand that accidents sometimes happen with young children. However, we expect that the majority of students are fully potty trained prior to attending preschool. If you have specific questions or concerns regarding potty training, you may contact the Executive Director of Instructional Support at any time.
