Section 504 is an Act which prohibits discrimination against persons with a disability in any program that receives federal financial assistance. The Act defines a person with a disability as anyone who:
Has a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more
major life activities such as caring for one’s self, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning or working.
In order to fulfill its obligations under Section 504/ADA, the Weld County Re-3(J) School District recognizes a responsibility to avoid discrimination in policies and practices regarding its personnel and children. No discrimination against any person with a disability will knowingly be permitted in any of the programs and practices of the school district.
The school has specific responsibilities under the Act, which include the responsibility to identify, evaluate and, if the child is determined to be eligible under Section 504/ADA, to afford access to appropriate educational services.
If the parents or guardians disagree with the determination made by the professional staff of the school, they have the right to a hearing with an impartial hearing officer.

Our schools receive federal funds for Title I programs that are part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Throughout the school year, we will continue to provide you with important information about this law and your child’s education.
You have a right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher(s). If you request this information, the district or school will provide you with the following as soon as possible:
a. if the teacher has met state licensing requirements for the grade level and subjects in which the teacher is providing instruction;
b. if the teacher is teaching under an emergency status for which state licensing requirements have been waived;
c. the type of college degree major of the teacher and the field of discipline for any graduate degree or certificate; and
d. if your child is receiving Title I services from paraprofessionals and if so, his/her/qualifications.
If you would like to request this information, please contact your child’s school. Thank you for your interest and involvement in your child’s education.

Usted tiene deracho a solicitar información sobre las calificaciones profesionales de el o los maestros de la sala de clases de su hijo/a. Si lo solicita, el distrito o la escuela le entregará la siguiente información tan pronto como sea posible:
a. si el maestro ha cumplido con los requisitos de licencia estatales para el grado escolar y las materias que está enseñando;
b. si el maestro está haciendo clases en una condición de emergencia bajo la cual ha sido eximido de los requisitos de licencia estatales;
c. el tipo de título universitario principal del maestro y la especialidad de cualquier título o certificado de postgrado; y
d. si su hijo/a recibe servicios del Titulo I de parte de paraprofeionales y, de ser así, sus calificaciones.

You have the right (a) to be informed whether a specific named individual is listed in the central sex offender registry maintained by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and (b) to obtain the name, address, known aliases, photograph, history of sex offense convictions and other criminal convictions of all registered sex offenders who reside within the law enforcement jurisdiction of your residence. Some information is posted on the CBI website: http://sor.state.co.us/. This includes names, addresses, physical descriptions, and descriptions of offenses committed by "sexually violent predators," repeat sexual offenders, and persons required to register as sex offenders who have not registered.

The Weld County list of registered sex offenders is maintained by the Records Department. The telephone number is 970-350-9627(http://maps.co.weld.co.us/).
The Sheriffs Department may from time to time conduct public meetings to advise key groups of a known "sexually violent predator" within the community. If you reside in an affected neighborhood, you may be invited to attend such a meeting. Notification of such meetings is the responsibility of law enforcement. If you are invited but cannot attend, you may obtain the information by contacting the Sheriff s Department.
Weld County School District Re-3J has completed the necessary inspection and management plans as required by the A.H.E.R.A. (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) legislation, the District is also in complete compliance with the Federal Asbestos in School Rule of 1982. The Assistant Director of Operations is Thomas Beach. The Management Plans and Inspection Reports are available for each building at the District Maintenance Office, 4977 WCR 59, Keenesburg, Colorado 80643. Reports are available for review during normal business hours. A copying fee will be required if copies of reports or sections thereof are requested.
