Welcome to the Weld County School District RE-3J Website

Thank you for your interest in Weld County School District Re-3J, Let's Talk! We look forward to hearing your feedback about how we can provide the best possible education for all students.

Support for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is part of state and district-wide initiative to increase the collective capacity of schools to implement and sustain the five major components which define MTSS (team-driven data-based problem solving for improving the outcomes of every student through family, school, and community partnering and a layered continuum of evidence-based practices).

This work is lead through collaboration between Support Programming, Special Education, and Assessment and Curriculum.

In order to help ensure participation and leadership with various stakeholders the district formed a MLT (MTSS Leadership Team) in September of 2016. The team is comprised of teachers (prek-12), special service providers, administration, and parents.

Our goal through this initiative ultimately is to build a consistent multi-tiered process that supports staff, students, and families across the district. We are confident we will begin to see fewer severe behavioral issues, an increase in academic growth and proficiency for all students, and increased teacher and parent resources and supports.

State Personnel Development Grant

Last fall the district applied for, and was awarded a State Personnel Development Grant from the Colorado Department of Education. This grant focusing on improving educational outcomes for children. It provides funding and technical support for training and professional development of Response to Intervention (RtI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) frameworks; effective early childhood education; supports for students with significant supports needs (SSN); supports for students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD); and meaningful partnering between schools and families and communities.

The following information comes from the Colorado Department of Education at https://www.cde.state.co.us/mtss/spdg

The purpose of the 2016-2021 CO SPDG project is to develop an integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework in Colorado at the state, regional, district, school, and early childhood level through models of successful implementation that can be scaled up across the state. These models will result in increased implementation of evidence-based practices and improvement in academic and behavioral outcomes for all students in Colorado including those with disabilities.

To achieve this purpose the project has five goals:

  1. Increase state leadership capacity for CO-MTSS through meaningful stakeholder collaboration and team work.

  2. Increase regional and district capacity for CO-MTSS through effective leadership, planning, and provision of professional development and technical assistance to local schools and educational buildings.

  3. Increase preschool-12, school level capacity for CO-MTSS through the implementation of team-driven shared leadership, data-based problem solving, family, school, and community partnering, and a layered continuum of evidence-based practices.

  4. Improve teacher performance through the development of district and regional systems of professional development and technical assistance.

  5. Increase family, school, and community partnering around CO-MTSS through specific partnership activities and involvement at all levels.
